CAIRO – 13 December 2017: Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo stressed that any unilateral move on Jerusalem is considered “void”.

On the sidelines of the Chinese conference titled “My Memories in China” at the Chinese embassy, Aiguo said that Beijing supports the establishment of a Palestinian state, adding that China will make efforts to push forward the peace process set out in the two-state initiative.

He added that the issue of Jerusalem is sensitive and that all parties should be careful in their actions so as not to harm the peace process, considering that any unilateral attempts or moves on this issue will be invalid.

The strategic partnership relations between Egypt and China have been greatly enhanced in recent times through the exchange of official visits. President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi visited China for the fourth time last September.

On Wednesday, United States President Donald Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel during a televised speech from the White House in Washington, D.C.
