Russian Duma delegation arrives in Cairo

CAIRO – 13 December 2017: A delegation from Russia’s lower house of Parliament, State Duma, arrived in Cairo to meet Egyptian parliamentary officials.

Six members of the State Duma arrived at the Cairo International Airport, led by Vladimir Shamanov, chairman of the Defense Committee of State Duma, according to sources.

“It is supposed that we would meet members of Egyptian parliament and the Ministry of Defense to discuss the technical military cooperation and ways to combat terrorism,” Deputy Chairman of Russian State Duma Committee of Defense affairs Yuri Shvetkin said earlier.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at the Cairo International Airport on Monday.

Both presidents agreed on strengthening the exchange of information between both countries on anti-terrorism efforts, especially regarding the issue of terrorists fleeing instable spots to other countries.
