Fire broke out in Cairo, no injures recorded

CAIRO – 12 December 2017: A massive fire broke out at a cable warehouse in Cairo’s Bab el-Sharia neighborhood on Tuesday; no injuries were recorded.

Civil Protection Forces responded to the fire at the warehouse and sent 18 vehicles to contain the fire and prevent it from reaching neighboring buildings, after evacuating all personnel from the surrounding buildings.

Mohamed Ayman Abdel Tawab, deputy governor for western and northern Cairo, told Egypt Today that this warehouse’s location was illegal and the local administration in Cairo governorate had warned its owners many times to relocate the warehouse.

“This fire has definitely affected neighboring buildings and personnel,” Tawab added.

The 1,000-meter warehouse’s fire did not cause any deaths, but three cases of smoke inhalation did occur, said a source at the Cairo Security Directorate.
