CAIRO - 11 December 2017: Al Azhar on Monday reiterated its complete rejection of the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israeli capital and move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, terming it an impetuous and groundless decision.

Addressing the 4th Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies that kicked off Monday in Abu Dhabi under the theme “Global Peace and the Fear of Islam”, Al Azhar Undersecretary Abbas Shoman reaffirmed his stance on the Arab identity of Jerusalem which he has already announced before in his report on Jerusalem in 2011.

Al Azhar warned the danger of the U.S. insistence on its biased decision.

He stressed that the US move triggers Muslims’ feelings of anger and threatens international security and peace while promotes polarization worldwide.

Shoman said such unfair practices and biased decisions make the peoples lose confidence in the integrity of the international community and reinforce hatred and divisions among them.

He slammed the international community’s reluctance to end the Rohingya crisis in Burma including killings and displacement to which they are subjected.

He also deplored inaction of the international community in fighting the real extremism and terrorism that is hitting several world countries especially Muslim countries.

Shoman called for supporting concerned Arab and international organizations to eliminate such terrorist groups.
