BAGHDAD - 8 December 2017: Iraqi forces have launched a large-scale operation in cooperation with the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) to regain control over the outskirts of al Jazira area between Nineveh and al Anbar provinces.

Commander of Operations to liberate upper Euphrates River and al Jazira area Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah said on Friday that the operation comes within the framework of the second phase of the operations of liberating upper Euphrates River and al Jazira area, Sky News channel reported.

Such operation is expected to be the last one, after which Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi would announce the final defeat of Daesh terrorist group in Iraq, Yarallah added.

Iraqi forces are currently launching a wide-scale purging operation in Iraqi Western Desert near the Syrian borders to chase Daesh remnants who lost their latest held district three weeks ago.
