CAIRO - 6 December 2017: Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission in the US Congress is expected to continue adopting a hostile attitude towards Egypt during a session, scheduled to be held Wednesday on the human rights situation in Egypt, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

"The commission is an informal mechanism in the US Congress," Ahmed Abu Zeid said, adding that the Egyptian Embassy in the US was keen to brief the congressmen on the real situation in Egypt over the past period.

The embassy also posted the commission on the economic and political hardships facing the Egyptian community as well as the state's current fight against terrorism, he added.

The commission will hold a session later in the day on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the January 25 revolution, tackling the human rights issue in Egypt.
