CAIRO – 6 December 2017: The U.S. embassy’s relocation from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem “would further escalate terrorism in the region, leading to growing anger and discontent that offers fertile ground for terrorism to thrive,” observatory of hard-line and takfiri fatwa said on Wednesday.

The observatory condemned the “unstudied decision” that will bring about a new wave of violence led by the extremists who would use this as a pretext to commit more terrorist acts.

The statement also highlighted that such a move will stir anger against the U.S. which goes against U.S. interests in the Middle East.

Earlier on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump informed his Palestinian counterpart of his intention to relocate the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, a move which implicitly gives Israel the right to call Jerusalem as its capital.

During his phone call with Trump on Tuesday, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi stressed the dire need to halt the measures that would undermine the prospects of peace talks and which, consequently, would complicate the situation in the Middle East.
