CAIRO – 3 December 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Saturday returned home after his several-day visit to Rome, where he participated in the Mediterranean Dialogue (MED) Forum. Held under the sponsorship of the Italian Institute for International Political Studies, the forum tackled regional challenges, coordination to fight terrorism and efforts to restore security and stability in the region.

During the discussions, Shoukry addressed the Libyan crisis, shedding the light on the trafficking of humans, weapons, and drugs that plagued the country, providing funds to terrorist activities in different places.

He stressed that Egypt and Italy have strong ties in several fields, pointing out that both countries cooperate effectively in the Italian student Giulio Regeni’s case, through exchanging information between the two countries’ prosecutors.

“We are determined to take all possible steps to reach a mutually satisfying outcome within legal frameworks,” Shoukry said.
