CAIRO – 29 November 2017: Following a year of absence, Cairo University will witness a competition for student union seats, Cairo University President Mohamed Osman Elkhosht stated on Wednesday.

Elkhosht stated that 1,545 students in the university are running for the union’s elections for the academic year 2017-2018.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced earlier that students would be able to run for the elections starting Wednesday.

Initial lists will be announced on December 3, while the first and second rounds will be held on December 10 and 11.

The last university students’ elections held were for the academic year 2015-2016, after four years of suspension.
