CAIRO – 28 November 2017: As part of the international 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign, Daughter of the Country Association (Bent El-Ard), in cooperation with the General Federation of Egyptian Women, will be holding a play called “Rayhana " on the morning of November 29 at Sandoub Secondary School for girls of Al-Mansoura governorate.

The play deals with the problem of violence against female students and its effects through the story of a student named Rayhana. She was harassed a few months ago in Al-Qawmeya district of A-Mansoura governorate. The student, who was attending a wedding of a relative, was harassed by hundreds of youths on her way back home for wearing a short black soiree dress.

Harassers were seized and now are being presented to court.

It is worth mentioning that the play Rayhana is produced by the Federation within the activities of the campaign “Don’t be afraid” which combats violence against women. The play has been previously presented at the House of Sinari. It is written and directed by Rania Refaat founder of Bergula Theater for dolls.

The Federation will present the play in conjunction with the international campaign combating violence against women at a number of provincial schools during December 2017.
