CAIRO – 28 November 2017: Egyptian police forces foiled two separate attempted attacks on security checkpoints in the North Sinai’s city of Arish late Monday, killing three militants.

Security sources told Sky News Arabia that the first attack targeted a security checkpoint near Atef Sadat village in Arish, where unidentified gunmen opened fire on the deployed forces there. Simultaneously, another security checkpoint on the Al-Wady Bridge Road was also attacked by a group of masked militants.

According to the security sources, the police forces responded to the two attacks, killing three terrorists and wounding two others.

Egypt witnessed one of the deadliest attacks in its modern history on Friday, when 305 people were killed and 128 injured as unidentified militants attacked a crowded mosque during Friday prayers in the Sinai Peninsula, setting off explosives and spraying worshippers with gunfire.

Security forces in Sinai have been on high alert, and the air force launched several raids against terrorist hideouts in the province.
