CAIRO – 26 November 2017: "Simon Tisdall’s piece on the Sinai mosque terror attack in the Guardian is completely unacceptable. More appropriate to sympathize with a suffering population not to resort to Egypt bashing journalism,” Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Anwar Gargash said on Sunday.

The British daily newspaper the Guardian published an article on Sunday entitled "The 'iron fist' response to terror attacks in Egypt never works" by assistant editor of and foreign affairs columnist Simon Tisdall, in which the writer cited Sisi statement “We will respond with brute force”.

Tisdall said in his article, “Sisi response to Friday’s atrocity at al-Rawdah mosque in northern Sinai was wholly predictable”, adding, “Hours after Islamic State-linked gunmen killed more than 300 Sufi worshippers, Sisi sent waves of warplanes to exact revenge.”

He mentioned that what the Egyptian military said in their statement, that the air force has eliminated a number of outposts used by terrorist elements, was not convenient.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry condemned on Sunday the Guardian’s article on the North Sinai's Bir El-Abd Mosque terror attack that claimed the lives of 305 worshippers and injured 128 on Friday.

On his Twitter account, the spokesperson of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abou-Zaid criticized the article saying, “We were overwhelmed with feeling of shocking and anger when reading the Guardian’s article on Al-Rawdah mosque attack.”

He said that, "The article represents a clear violation of the United Nations Resolution 2354, which prohibits the incitement of terrorist acts and repudiating attempts at the justification or glorification of terrorist acts."
