CAIRO - 25 November 2017: Al-Azhar’s relief delegation in Cox's Bazar city distributed 100 tons of relief items a week ago, Al-Azhar relief convoy head Mohamed Al-Abd said on Saturday.

Al-Abd added that the distribution is approximately 2,000 cartons a day, in addition to blankets.

On the other hand, Al-Azhar Imam Ahmed al-Tayeb delayed his visit to the Rohingya camps in Bangladesh, which was scheduled for today, after the attack on a mosque in Arish, North Sinai on Friday.

Moreover, the relief delegation from Al-Azhar arrived in Bangladesh on November 21 to distribute food, blankets, and medical and shelter aid. Al-Azhar, the world’s most prestigious Islamic institution, has rejected the establishment of permanent refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar city, Bangladesh.

The city hosts an increased community of refugee camps, as there are thousands of Rohingya refugees living in unstable conditions.
