CAIRO -23 November 2017: Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar addressed the members of parliament during a meeting on Thursday, announcing that the security situation in Sinai is stable.

The three-hour meeting dealt with several important issues, including Egypt’s security situation, the continuing effort to counter terrorism and launching new security campaigns.

After the meeting, MP Ahmed Ismail said that Abdel Ghaffar informed the Parliament that the people of Sinai are safe and are not exposed to any threats. Furthermore, the MPs voiced their support for the Interior Minister’s efforts to preserve Egypt’s security and stability.

The Interior Ministry has launched several security campaigns to combat terrorism. On Thursday, it was announced that three members of the Muslim Brotherhood were killed and nine others were arrested during a security raid.

Security forces seized a large amount of ammunition and improvised explosive devices inside a terrorist hideout. They also impounded two booby-trapped cars.

The successful operation comes as part of the wider efforts by the ministry to combat terrorism and extremism ever since the ouster of MB-affiliated president Mohamed Morsi.
