AIRO - 23 November 2017: Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit reviewed the latest developments on the Arab arena during his meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, a statement released by the Arab League said on Thursday.

The meeting, held on Wednesday in Amman, took up the developments in Syria, Yemen, Libya as well as the recent moves made by the Arab League in this regard.

Arab League Spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said Abul Gheit's meeting with the Jordanian monarch tackled the recent volatile Arab crises and means of handling them with the aim of maintaining Arab national security.

He also said the Palestinian issue figured high on the agenda of the talks between the Arab League chief and the Jordanian king.

Meanwhile, Afifi noted that Abul Gheit was keen on expressing his full appreciation for the role played by King Abdullah II in defending the Arab causes within the framework of his international contacts.

Aboul Gheit briefed the King on the outcome of the extraordinary meeting the Arab foreign ministers held a few days ago in Cairo.

He also expressed pan-Arab organization's appreciation of Jordan in promoting Arab cooperation and solidarity and achieving security and stability in the region
