CAIRO – 25 February 2017: Egyptian national carrier EgyptAir set prices for Umrah flights from Cairo during the Islamic months of Rajab and Sha’ban,

Youm7 reported

.

The prices include four categories, depending on dates and destination location. The first category is set at 5,570 EGP for a flight to Jeddah. The second costs 5,780 EGP for a flight to Medina. Flights scheduled on Thursdays or Fridays will increase to 5,660 EGP to Jeddah and 5,850 EGP to Medina.

Sources at EgyptAir confirmed the price rise this year was due to an increase in the cost of fuel and taxes, as well as the rise of the Saudi Arabian Riyal’s price against the Egyptian Pound and the impact of the floatation of the Egyptian currency, Youm7 said.

The cost for Umrah flights

had reached an average of 4,500 EGP in March 2016, already increasing by 20% compared to the previous season.

Umrah is the non-mandatory pilgrimage to Mecca, which may be performed at any time of the year.
