CAIRO - 22 November 2017: Egypt’s first nonprofit scientific research institution specialised in nutrition therapy for Cancer is set to launch on Nov.28.

The institution, carrying the name “Envision,” gathers a number of pioneer figures in medicine, media and arts, headed by nutritional consultant Dr Cherifa Aboul Fettouh, who was the first to present the idea after attending a conference in France about the role of nutrition in treating cancer.

“I was very intrigued by the idea, especially since I am convinced in the possibility of using nutrition to boost the immune system, which gives a chance to combat cancerous attacks on the body,” Aboul Fettouh revealed.

The official launching ceremony is set to take place in days.

England, France and Germany have already started researching the topic and some hospitals are giving patients the option to choose between chemotherapy, nutritional treatment or a combination of both, Aboul Fettouh explained.

The institution currently gathers 15 founding members, specialized physicians, and civil society institutions, such as Misr El Kheir and Orman Charity Association, as well as United Nations (UN) representatives and actors.

Members of the board include Aboul Fettouh; Fathi Khudair, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University; Dr. Mohamed Shaalan, professor of general and cancer surgery at Cairo University as well as Founding Chairperson of the Breast Cancer Foundation of Egypt and Egyptian actress Yousra.
