Shoukry affirms need to maintain US-Palestinian communication

CAIRO - 19 November 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Saturday made a phone call with Secretary of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee Saeb Erekat.

The talks dealt with the latest developments regarding a US move to shut the PLO's office in Washington DC.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said the two sides reviewed the Palestinian evaluation of the details and background of the resolution and its possible repercussions.

He added that Shoukry affirmed the need for exploring all avenues to maintain open channels of communication between the Palestinian Authority and the US administration; especially during the current period in which the international community looks forward to the resumption of the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations and the peace process.
