CAIRO - 11 November 2017: Chairman of the British Council in London Christopher Rodrigues stressed Friday on the importance of having a partnership with Al Azhar.

Rodrigues commended the 10-year partnership, saying it had a positive impact on building English language skills, debate and leadership skills for both teachers and students.

This came during the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the council and Al Azhar University on the occasion of their 10th anniversary of partnership.

In a statement issued by the British embassy in Cairo, the chairman of the British council said that this partnership has helped Al Azhar graduates and scholars in taking part in the interfaith dialogue and exchange of cultures with people from another countries, which goes in line with the council's mission to boost cultural relations between different countries.

He expressed hope for continuing this partnership through direct education and e-learning initiatives and scholarships.
