ADEN – 10 November 2017: The Shabwah elite forces restored control on Friday over Hota district, the most important al Qaeda stronghold, Shabwah governorate, Yemen.

The clashes between the forces and al Qaeda militants resulted in casualties from both sides, a Yemeni security source said.

Dozens of al Qaeda militants fled the scene as the forces recaptured the many districts, in a military operation launched two months ago, sources said.

The elite forces sent military reinforcements from Hadramawt governorate, supported by Arab coalition fighter jets.
