CAIRO – 8 November 2017: Open dialogue with our international partners and engaging them in forums like the World Youth Forum is very important as it shows that Egypt has a wealth of human cadres beside its vision to shape the future, said Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in an interview with ON Live.

Shoukry said that Egypt has a highly efficient and promising generation, assuring that Egypt‘s future will be led by conscious youth. With youth, Egypt is moving towards the future with steady steps.

Shoukry also noted that challenges should be faced with reform programs and cooperation between countries to achieve economic integration and prepare for development in the future.

To combat terrorism is one of the main challenges across the world; Shoukry referred that countries should have a clear and common vision to reach solutions and deter this phenomenon.

On the other hand, the 13 demands and six principles, which Arab states have imposed on Qatar, were not discussed in the World Youth Forum which focuses on development, youth empowerment, economic issues, climate change and terrorism.

Many sessions focus on the ways to build state institutions, issues related to conflict and pressure caused by terrorism as well as exploitation of citizens by human trafficking.

Egypt’s first international youth event is set to run until November 10, bringing together 3,000 youth represented by 60 delegations.

The seven-day gathering witnesses the participation of official youth representatives over 18 years old, leaders of various youth networks, heads of state, media figures and around 250 young Egyptian expats. It is held under the theme "We Need to Talk."

The WYF sends a message of peace, prosperity, harmony and love to the entire world. It is considered a strong opportunity for youth globally to communicate with each other.

The idea of holding an international youth conference in Egypt was made during the third National Youth Conference in Ismailia, where it was approved by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. In July, the president announced organizing the WYF in Sharm El-Sheikh during the fourth National Youth Conference in Alexandria.
