CAIRO – 8 November 2017: Cairo International Airport carried out on Wednesday its final rehearsal in preparation for an extended emergency experiment scheduled for mid-month.

The experiment, which comes in compliance with the instructions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), tests the readiness of the units operating at the airport to deal with emergency situations.

The Emergency Events and Crises Management Committee of the port authorities, the police, civil protection, and the quarantine and the port’s security are expected to participate in the experiment.

The experiment comes within the framework of the ICAO's instructions to conduct a two-year emergency test to measure individuals' preparedness and participation in the experiment, and to develop their skills, identifying the positives and negatives of the experiment to obtain clear information on what to avoid in future trials.

According to new figures from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Egypt has ranked first on the African level in air cargo, and second in passenger traffic in 2016, thanks to the ICAO's achievements, the aviation minister said in October.
