Officials review outcome of WYF’s 3rd day

CAIRO – 8 November 2017: On the third day of the World Youth Forum (WYF), ministers and officials reviewed youth-related efforts that have been made or planned for, until now, on the forum’s sidelines.

Suez Canal Authority Chairman Mohab Mamesh said that there is an agreement concerning providing one million job opportunities for the youth that was signed today, in addition to LE 41 billion ($2.3 billion) for future investments.

Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr said, "A number of seven investment agreements were signed concerning the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which is one of the most important projects President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi announced."

Expressing how the WYF succeeded to underscore the role of youth, Culture Minister Helmy al-Namnam said, "In the WYF, officials were sitting in the hall, while the youth were on stage managing the discussion. An official would ask for a speech as any participant would."

"Youth in the WYF are talking without concerns, bearing in mind youths’ enthusiasm that everyone understands and goes along with," Namnam said. "Everyone, including Sisi, listened with patience," he added.

"It is notable that people were keen to participate in the forum whether they agree or disagree with the regime," Namnam said. "This conveys the message that the goal is to unite to build a civilian state," he explained.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said, "I think the WYF is a successful idea that should be repeated annually. Reform will not stop.”

The WYF invites and brings together 3,000 young people, represented by 60 delegations from across the world, in an effort to explore key issues facing young people and determine their role in implementing global development goals and combating terrorism.
