CAIRO – 7 November 2017: The World Youth Forum is the perfect opportunity for youth to meet with decision makers and exchange ideas, said Sameh Kamal, one of the participants at the WYF, on Tuesday.

Kamal is a representative of the Middle East and North Africa for United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY).

He added that UN MGCY is participating in the WYF to discuss with the Egyptian and international ministers the possibilities of further engaging youth in the decision making processes through holding Consultative Boards for governorates, ministries, presidency and parliament.

“Through these boards, we call ministries, presidency, governorates and parliament to engage youth not only in consultancy but also in decision making. We hope that our efforts will be fruitful,” Kamal noted.

He calls on youth to never underestimate their voices as they have a great impact on decision making, especially since youth always seek to do their work properly.

The World Youth Forum (WYF) kicked off on Saturday in Sharm El-Sheikh, South Sinai under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. Egypt’s first international youth event is set to run until November 10, bringing together 3,000 youths represented by 60 delegations from around the world.

The seven-day gathering witnesses the participation of official youth representatives over 18 years old, leaders of various youth networks, heads of state, media figures and around 250 young Egyptian expats. It is held under the theme "We Need to Talk."
