CAIRO – 6 November 2017: “Egypt has an amazing civilization that Egyptians have spread all over the world so it is good to launch the World Youth Forum from Egypt,” said one of the international guests at the World Youth Forum (WYF), Diaa from Lebanon.

Diaa is a co-founder of a NGO based in Lebanon who told Egypt Today that Egyptians showed great strength for the sake of their nation by enduring the past six years.

“Arab countries are not interested in the sustainable development. They do not include it within their ministries, enterprises and there is no daily update on environment, economics, and any field related to the sustainable development sector,” he added.

Diaa expressed his sadness with Arab countries for “not taking sustainable development into consideration,” although it has been the overwhelming topic all over the world in past years.

Egypt’s first international youth event is set to run until November 10, bringing together 3,000 youths represented by 60 delegations from around the world.

The seven-day gathering witnesses the participation of official youth representatives over 18 years old, leaders of various youth networks, heads of state, media figures and around 250 young Egyptian expats. It is held under the theme "We Need to Talk."
