CAIRO - 5 November 2017: A committee affiliated with the Antiquities Ministry received on Saturday 354 artifacts coming from UAE’s Sharjah.

Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anani inspected the registration process for the artifacts at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

The minister hailed Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad al Qasimi’s initiative and appreciated UAE authorities over cooperating with the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and Embassy in Abu Dhabi to return the artifacts to Egypt.

The artifacts will be temporary exhibited in the Egyptian Museum soon, the minister added.

Earlier, Qasimi ordered that hundreds of Egyptian artifacts seized by the UAE customs authorities were handed back to Egyptian authorities in Cairo.

A total of 354 artifacts, seized at Sharjah International Airport, included pieces of very important value that dated back to the Pharaonic and Islamic eras.

The announcement was made following Sheikh Sultan's arrival in Cairo on an official visit to participate in the World Youth Forum, which will kick off on Sunday.

During his stay in Egypt, Sharjah ruler is scheduled to visit a number of medical institutes and cultural and educational centers.
