CAIRO – 27 October 2017: The Education Ministry announced on Thursday the formation of schools meant for students with dual disabilities.

Dr. Hala Abdul Salam, head of the Central Department for Special Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education, said on Friday that the first school of this kind will be operating for the upcoming academic year in Giza governorate, and another one being studied is to be located in Alexandria.

In exclusive statements to

Al-Watan

on Friday, Abdul Salam further stated that the ministry found out that those students with dual disabilities, like the deaf and mute, have no well-suited schools, classrooms and teachers to cater to their needs.

The head of the Central Administration for Special Education said that these students will be taught through the language of touch and that the ministry is hiring experts from the United States to train teachers.

The official also added that the students will be exempted from the school fees, adding that the schools will accept students aged between 6-9 years old.
