CAIRO - 26 October 2017: The Foreign Ministry affirmed Thursday that it is closely following up on the investigations of the murder of an Egyptian citizen in Turkey with Turkish authorities, through the Egyptian consulate in Istanbul, in order to arrest the perpetrators.

The Egyptian consulate filed a report to Istanbul police and tourist police on Oct. 8, following a report by the victim’s son of his father’s disappearance on Oct. 7, according to Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, Ambassador Khaled Rizk.

“The consulate has communicated with Turkey’s Attorney General to focus the search for the perpetrator,” Rizk said in official statement released Thursday, adding that Egyptian authorities helped the victim’s son to travel Istanbul to take part in the investigation.

Mohamed Abdel Kawy Salem was found dead in Istanbul, after three days of being missing, according to the report by his son. Police stated that Salem, a businessman, left the hotel accompanying a stranger and rode a car with him, two days before police confirmed his murder.
