Egyptian ousted president’s son jailed for 3 yrs in prison

CAIRO – 26 October 2017: Son of the ousted President Mohamed Morsi was convicted to three years in jail and fined LE500 ($28.31) due to charges of possessing a bladed weapon.

Osama Morsi was arrested on December 9, 2016, in Nasr City district after being witnessed carrying a bladed weapon in the street.

In statements to Egypt today, Walied Wahba, a lawyer, said that the punishment of possessing bladed weapons in public places is to be jailed no less than two months.

According to Egyptian law, it is prohibited to have any kind of weapons without permission; otherwise it is criminalized according to the Weapons and Ammunition law.
