CAIRO – 24 October 2017: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser Al-Qadi said that the price of pre-paid call cards increased as a result of the increase in maintenance and mobile network operator costs due to the last flotation.

Most of the materials are imported from abroad with foreign currency and this is the reason behind the increase, added Al-Qadi.

Al-Qadi stated that they exert endless efforts to prevent traders’ greed by providing 50,000 outlets to supply the service, demanding that citizens dial 155 in cases of greed.

He pointed out that they are working to improve service and cover the new cities, including the New Administrative Capital, indicating that they are discussing the activation of the fifth generation in the future, as well as study the requirements of transition to the digital community.

Al-Qadi said that there is a plan to raise the minimum internet speeds to reach 4MB in the near future, pointing out that the internet prices in Egypt have become a competition for world prices.
