Body of officer killed in Wahat attack found

CAIRO – 21 October 2017: Official security resources revealed on Saturday that the body of Captain Mohamed al Hayeth, who was killed during the attack of Wahat, was found.

Sixteen Egyptian security personnel were killed and more injured Friday during a raid on a militant hideout in Wahat. The death toll has risen to at least 35, according to Egyptian officials.

The Interior Ministry said on Friday that security forces are still combing Wahat Road in search of runaway terrorists.

In a statement, the ministry added that the National Security Service was informed of a terrorist hideout in the Wahat area.

Security forces clashed and exchanged fire with the terrorists, leaving a number of them dead or wounded.
