CAIRO – 21 October 2017: Cairo University President Mohamed Othman Al Khesht declared one minute of mourning, during all Sunday’s lectures, for the police personnel killed in Wahat terrorist attack.

Khesht commented on Friday’s terrorist attack saying that such actions wouldn’t stop the Egyptian people from uniting with the police and army to uproot terrorism.

The Interior Ministry said Friday that a number of policemen were killed in a shootout following a raid on a terrorist hideout on Wahat desert way, MENA reported.

A number of officials and institutions have condemned the attack, including Al Azhar’s grand imam Ahmed Al Tayyeb, the Orthodox Church led by Pope Tawadros II, the Coptic Catholic Patriarch of Alexandria Ibrahim Isaac, Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali, and the British ambassador to Egypt John Casson.
