KABUL - 20 October 2017: Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawky Allam on Friday condemned the attack on a mosque in Kabul that killed at least 30 people during Friday prayers.

In a statement, Allam warned the Afghan people against falling into a sectarian strife.

He said that extremists are trying to drag people into violence, the statement said.

He offered condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

A suicide bomber attacked a Shiite mosque during late afternoon prayers in western Kabul, killing 39 persons, while at the same time, a suicide bomber struck a Sunni mosque in western Ghor province, killing 33 people there.
