CAIRO – 15 October 2017: Rafah Border Crossing will be opened for four days starting from October 15 until October 19, spokesman of the crossings authority in the Gaza Strip Hisham Adwan said on Sunday.

The move coincides with the Palestinian Government of National Accord’s assumption of office.

Under Egyptian auspices, Palestine’s two main political parties Fatah and Hamas signed a reconciliation accord in Cairo on Thursday, which denotes that the Government of National Accord will have administration over the Rafah border before December 1.

Egypt, which hosted a series of meetings over the past few days between both parties, invited Palestinian factions that signed the 2011 accord to hold their coming meeting on November 21, 2017 in Cairo.

The reconciliation deal was reached on Thursday between the two parties in Cairo has been praised by all Palestinian factions as a breakthrough to the decade-long division.
