CAIRO – 12 October 2017: Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh confirmed the full readiness of the movement in implementing the provisions of the reconciliation agreement signed in Cairo with the other main Palestinian faction, Fatah.

During a telephone call, Haniyeh expressed his thanks to Egyptian General Intelligence Chief Khaled Fawzy for the authority’s current leadership and the role it played in putting a lid on the Palestinian split. Haniyeh stressed his deep appreciation of Egypt’s continuous role in supporting the unity of Palestine.

Under Egyptian auspices, Palestine’s two main political rivals, Fatah and Hamas, signed a reconciliation accord Thursday in Cairo, which denotes that the Concession Government will have administration over the Rafah border before December 1.

Egypt, which hosted a series of meetings over the past two days between both parties, invited Palestinian factions that signed the 2011 accord to hold their coming meeting on November 21, 2017, in Cairo, the statement said.
