CAIRO – 11 October 2017: Qatari opposition holds big demonstrations at UNESCO headquarter, Paris, on Wednesday to denounce Qatari candidate Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kawari for the UNESCO post.

Qatari opposition wonders how the candidate of the Qatari regime funding terrorism and extremism will head an organization for science and knowledge.

“Save UNESCO from Terrorism” is the most trending hashtag on Twitter after the Qatari candidate has become at the forefront of the first and second rounds of the election of the UNESCO Director-General.

The Qatari candidate received 19 votes in the first round and 20 votes in the second
round, causing suspicions about the weapon of money, used by the Qatari regime to buy supportive voices.

The winning candidate must obtain 30 votes, which did not occur in the first round, but possible by a potential fifth round, to be held on Friday. The candidates who amassed the highest number of votes in the fourth round will compete in the fifth.
