CAIRO - 08 October 2017: Fatah and Hamas leaders will meet in Cairo on Tuesday morning.

In a step to end all aspects of the division, and in a gesture to the historic initiative led by Egyptian government , Palestinian leaders of Fatah and Hamas are preparing to meet in Cairo to begin the dialogue opening sessions of the reconciliation agreement.

Amidst the Palestinians hopes to end the division, alleviate the suffering of Gaza Strip, and achieve national unity which will strengthen the position of the Palestinian negotiator in the peace process, the Palestinian citizens' aspire towards President Abu Mazen's decision to cancel the measures imposed on the sector.

The visit of the Fatah and Hamas delegations coincide with the Palestinian demands by Palestinian public opinion leaders. The demands requested Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas refrain from the measures taken against Gaza Strip. The Palestinian demands include urging Fatah and Hamas to end their dispute and realize the reconciliation.

Informed sources revealed to Egypt Today that a meeting is scheduled to tackle several critical files on October 10 amid positive intentions. There are reports of positive intentions from all parties to reach compromises. Despite promising expectations, there is cautious optimism about the possibility of achieving quick results concerning those files during those sessions.

The Palestinian reconciliation is an unprecedented achievement for the Egyptian mediation efforts, which will strengthen his internal, political, and negotiating position with the Israeli state and break the rigid political process after 11 years of division.
