CAIRO – 8 October 2017: Qurna prosecution in Luxor province detained a U.S. citizen for four days pending investigations on stabbing an Egyptian with a knife on Thursday during his visit to Luxor.

Head of Luxor Security Directorate Mostafa Salah al-Din was informed that a U.S. tourist named Eric stabbed Abdel Nasser Alaa with a knife. The preliminary investigation revealed that the tourist resides in a hut on the Nile in the village of Baiyrat.

An argument between Erik and an Egyptian citizen evolved into a fight, in which the foreign tourist took off his clothes and stabbed the citizen in his left arm, fleeing the area immediately.

He stabbed Alaa in his hand and escaped before the police arrested him.

However, he was arrested on Friday pending investigations.

In August 2017, an Italian tourist beat an Egyptian engineer to death at a hotel under construction in Marsa Alam resort town on the Red Sea.
