CAIRO – 6 October 2017: Prisoners nationwide will be allowed an extra visit by their families as of Saturday until the end of the current month, marking the 44th anniversary of the 6th of October War 1973.

According to a Ministry of Interior statement Thursday, prisoners are entitled to an extra visit that will not be deducted from their quota of visits.

Exceptional visits are usually allowed on occasions, like allowing visits on mothers’ day on March 21 of every year.

A tradition of pardoning prisoners on official holidays and feasts also takes place if inmates have served at least half of their prison terms, totaling at least six months in jail.
