CAIRO - 6 October 2017: Taliban Movement attacks the Afghan Forces in Urzugan Province and claims 24 soldiers' lives.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the Arab Republic of Egypt condemned the Taliban movement attack on the Afghan army and police forces located in the state of Uruzgan Province in Afghanistan, killing 24 Afghan soldiers.

The statement expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims, affirming that the Egyptian government and people stand with Afghanistan to achieve security and stability in the country.

Earlier last week, twelve Afghan security forces were killed and four others wounded when Taliban fighters stormed the compounds of the Maruf district governor in the Southern Kandahar province. Taliban spokesman Qari Yusouf Ahmadi said the Taliban captured Maruf for a few hours. After removing weapons and other items they left the district.
