MOSCOW- 4 October 2017: President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that around 40,000 North Korean citizens were currently working in Russia.

Such workers are known to regularly send back part of their wages to the North Korean authorities.

Putin, speaking at an energy forum, said Moscow was concerned about rising tensions between Pyongyang and the West over North Korea's nuclear and missile programme because it shared a border with the country.

He also said that anyone who spoke to Pyongyang using the language of force was only strengthening the position of the authorities there.
