CAIRO – 3 October 2017: Metro ticket prices are likely to rise within the coming year, as a result of the rise in the costs of the current development projects undertaken on the metro lines and stations, Minister of Transport Dr. Hisham Arafat confirmed on Tuesday.

Currently, a metro ticket costs LE 2 ($0.11) per ride.

Last month, Minister Arafat met with a delegation of British companies in presence of British Ambassador in Cairo John Casson.

The meeting reviewed possible investments in the railway sector including plans to restructure the system to improve services in addition to chances in the maritime transport domain.
