CAIRO- 25 September 2017: Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on Monday received African Development Bank (AfDB) delegation in the ministry's headquarters to discuss final preparations for the third African Ministerial Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation that will be held in Cairo.

The forum is due to be held during the period February 10- 12 in cooperation with the AfDB and participation of African young researchers and civil society organizations involved in the scientific research.

During his meeting with the AfDB delegation, they discussed means to boost cooperation in fields of mutual concern.

Abdel Ghaffar voiced Egypt's political leadership keenness on deepening and consolidating Egyptian-African relations in all domains, especially the scientific, educational and research ones.

The minister pointed out that the forum is expected to address a number of issues including IT, agriculture, food security green-economy, energy and water.

He affirmed that the forum aims at formulating a vision based on transferring scientific research outcome into economic products in cooperation with the private sector.

Scientific research should be invested to help in solving problems facing the African continent and in achieving objectives of its people to live in more prosperous and stable life, the minister noted.

The meeting was attended by a number of the ministry's officials and representatives of bodies involved in the scientific research.
