BAGHDAD – 23 September 2017: Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi reiterated Iraq's firm stance rejecting holding a referendum on Kurdistan's independence, describing it as "unconstitutional".

He emphasized that the priority is staging a war against terrorism and liberating the whole Iraqi territories, Al Sumaria channel reported, citing a statement from Abadi's office.

The Iraqi premier made the remarks during his meeting with Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Iraq Ján Kubiš, who congratulated Baghdad on the victories achieved over Daesh terrorists in Aana and al Hawija towns.

The UN official asserted the world body's clear stance on rejecting a unilateral independence referendum in Kurdistan as well as the importance of holding a dialogue
