CAIRO – 23 September 2017: Secretary General of the Egyptian Labor Union Mohamed Wahab-Allah said Friday that Al-Fateh corvette the Egyptian navy received from France would boost Egypt’s naval capabilities of securing Egyptian straits and defending the Suez Canal.

“Improving and supporting the Egyptian Navy is critical. Security of Egypt’s share of the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea is the navy’s responsibility, in addition to the duty of protecting recently discovered natural gas fields,” Wahab-Allah said.

The Egyptian flag was raised aboard a French-made “Gowind” corvette, Al-Fateh on Friday, to join Egyptian naval forces.
