CAIRO – 22 September 2017: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry met Thursday with his Pakistani counterpart, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, to discuss ways of developing bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields.

The two ministers reviewed some regional issues of common concern, in addition to preparations of a joint committee that reflects mutual desire to develop bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, and natural gas drilling, Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesman of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Egypt seeks Pakistani support for the Egyptian candidate for the position of UNESCO director-general Moshira Khattab, the statement reads.

On the sidelines of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 72), Shoukry also met Thursday with his Sudanese and Ethiopian counterparts.
