CAIRO - 21 September 2017: Minister of Health Ahmed Emad El Din chaired a meeting entitled "Road Safety in Egypt" at the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in Cairo.

The meeting was attended by Regional Director for the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMRO) Mahmoud Fikri, WHO Representative in Egypt John Jabbour, and representatives from the ministries of interior, transportation, and social solidarity, as well as the Red Crescent.

It discussed means to reduce the rate of road accidents in Egypt.

Emad El Din pointed out that the ministry carried out a number of endeavors to efficiently deal with road accidents, including the improvement of ambulance response time.

He also urged the concerned authorities to raise awareness of road accidents among Egyptians, adding that the Health Ministry will conduct anti-drugs campaigns and do blood tests to ensure that drivers are drug-free.
