CAIRO – 17 September 2017: Arab parliamentary speaker Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami appreciated Egypt's efforts on Sunday in the Palestinian reconciliation file that sought to establish a true partnership between the Palestinian people to end this era of conflict.

Al-Salami also welcomed Hamas’ announcement of their intention to dismantle the administrative committee in the Gaza Strip.

The announcement also included calling for a Palestinian consensus government to exercise its functions in Gaza, agreeing to hold elections, Hamas’ willingness to accept Egypt’s invitation for dialogue with Fatah and the formation of a national unity government.

“Hamas’s announcement is a positive step with immense importance in the stage of building confidence, discarding disagreements, contributing to creating a good atmosphere, reaching a comprehensive Palestinian national dialogue, and a step on the right path towards the restoration of Palestinian national unity,” said the speaker in a statement.

He added that this may push Israel to begin a serious political process leading to an end to the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Salami confirmed that this announcement was the outcome to Egypt's efforts, which succeeded in gathering the viewpoints and bridging the gap between Palestinians.

He stressed the support of the Arab Parliament for the efforts undertaken by Egypt in the Palestinian national reconciliation process.
