Lavrov, Tillerson discuss settlement to Syrian crisis

MOSCOW, Sept 17 (MENA) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Sunday met with his US counterpart Rex Tillerson, Sputnik news agency reported.

In a statement, the Russian ministry said that the two sides discussed the current Syrian situation and a possible settlement.

They also tackled efforts to confront terrorism on the ground and implement Astana decisions.

The sixth round of Syria talks had been held on September 14-15 and attended by the three guarantor states: Russia, Turkey, and Iran; plus delegations of the Syrian government and opposition.

Moreover, the US and Jordan attended the session, as observers, as well as the UN envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura.
