CAIRO - 12 December 2017: Thirteen defendants affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood were sentenced to several years in prison due to allegations of being involved in violent actions following the dispersal of the Rabaa al Adawiya and al Nahda sit-ins in August 2013.
The events that took place in Malawi City in Minya governorate included storming the city's court and police station, according to the military court on Tuesday.
The penalties include life-sentences in prison for four of the defendants, while nine others received between five to seven years in prison.
Only one defendant was found innocent due to lack of evidence.
